In Italy, it can be accessed through certified access points such as <strong>A-Cube<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This article explores the strategic importance of Peppol and the potential offered by <strong>A-Cube\u2019s solutions<\/strong>, designed to <strong>automate and secure document flows<\/strong> with international business partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is Peppol?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Peppol<\/strong>, short for <strong>Pan-European Public Procurement On-Line<\/strong>, is a system that allows <strong>companies and public administrations across different countries<\/strong> to exchange documents, data, and electronic invoices through a <strong>certified and secure network<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Launched in 2008 as an <strong>OpenPeppol pilot project<\/strong> funded by the <strong>European Commission<\/strong>, its goal was to simplify cross-border trade and streamline <strong>e-procurement processes<\/strong> between EU countries. Over time, the network has been adopted globally for the exchange of <strong>business and administrative documents<\/strong> between companies from different nations as well as between these and public entities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, Peppol covers the <strong>entire e-procurement process<\/strong> and is used by nearly <strong>1.5 million organizations in 98 countries<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Peppol and E-Invoicing Worldwide<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peppol eliminates the need for complex system adaptations, enabling the exchange of invoices between countries with different <strong>e-invoicing frameworks<\/strong>. It is emerging as the <strong>global standard<\/strong> for both <strong>B2G (Business-to-Government)<\/strong> and <strong>B2B (Business-to-Business)<\/strong> invoicing, playing a central role in the transition from national, closed e-invoicing systems to a <strong>global, interoperable network<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Europe, <strong>Directive 2014\/55\/EU<\/strong> made <strong>electronic invoicing mandatory<\/strong> in public procurement. Peppol was chosen as one of the main channels for B2G invoice exchange. In Italy, it is one of the <strong>official systems<\/strong> (alongside the <strong>NSO \u2013 Nodo Smistamento Ordini<\/strong>) used by public administrations to send electronic orders to suppliers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since <strong>February 1, 2020<\/strong>, electronic orders have been mandatory for purchases of goods by the <strong>National Health Service<\/strong>, and since <strong>January 1, 2021<\/strong>, for services as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Peppol Around the World<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Adopted as the <strong>national e-invoicing standard<\/strong> (with adoption incentives) in <strong>Japan, the UAE, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Used as an <strong>international interoperability system<\/strong> in <strong>Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Available as a <strong>private-sector option<\/strong> in the <strong>United States and Canada<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under evaluation by several <strong>African countries<\/strong> as a potential national standard<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How Peppol Works: Accredited Access Points<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>standardized language<\/strong> used within the Peppol network allows companies and public entities worldwide to <strong>automate invoice and document transmission<\/strong>, reduce errors, and eliminate operational and bureaucratic complexity\u2014resulting in <strong>significant savings in time and cost<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Organizations can choose their <strong>certified provider<\/strong> based on specific needs from a wide range of accredited access points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At a national level, each Peppol network is governed by its <strong>Peppol Authority<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Italy, this role is fulfilled by <strong>AgID (Agenzia per l\u2019Italia Digitale)<\/strong>, which accredits the various <strong>Peppol access point providers<\/strong> required to connect to the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A-Cube<\/strong> is one of these <strong>accredited Peppol access points<\/strong>\u2014a true intermediary enabling entities to communicate over the network and providing them with their <strong>Peppol Participant ID<\/strong>, the company\u2019s <strong>unique electronic address<\/strong> within the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This ID must be communicated to the Italian <strong>Sistema di Interscambio (SdI)<\/strong> and is then associated with any electronic orders received from public administrations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peppol operates under a <strong>four-corner model<\/strong>, consisting of four entities: the <strong>supplier<\/strong>, the <strong>buyer<\/strong>, and their respective <strong>access points<\/strong>, which enable communication even when they use different providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Document Exchange via Peppol<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>standard format<\/strong> for all documents exchanged through Peppol is the <strong>Universal Business Language (UBL XML)<\/strong>, also used for <strong>European e-invoicing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When an electronic invoice is sent via Peppol, the sender\u2019s access point identifies the recipient\u2019s access point and verifies its ability to receive the document.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The transmission of <strong>international electronic orders<\/strong> also involves Italy\u2019s <strong>SdI (Sistema di Interscambio)<\/strong>, which translates and delivers electronic documents according to Peppol standards for Italian users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All orders received through this system must include a <strong>document identifier<\/strong>, <strong>issue date<\/strong>, and the <strong>Endpoint ID<\/strong> (the sender\u2019s unique Peppol ID).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A-Cube\u2019s Peppol Platform<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to being an accredited access point, <strong>A-Cube<\/strong> is part of the <strong>Peppol eDelivery Network<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
